Preface:
Established
since September 1998, Direct Selling Research Center has been conceiving new
ideas to advance the direct selling research, advocating the appropriate
managerial principles and raising public’s acceptance in direct selling;
impels our university to be vital in direct selling research.
1999 year-end, to improve our understanding and interaction with direct selling industry, we have invited experienced direct sellers to be our advisors. December 1999, we convened an advisory council and have generated many precious suggestions and assistance. June 2000, we initiated our first direct selling summit and invited only chief officers from leading direct-selling firms, direct selling distributors, government officers and scholars to attend, to discuss various topics and to increases communications among enterprises, government and academy. The summit came out successfully and participants were supportive of the event and recommend similar events to be held regularly on every January and June and extend invitees to all chief officers of leading direct selling firms, leading direct selling distributors and government ministers. During the summit, we had chosen five preparatory commissioners for future arrangements and set out next summit on after 2001 New Year. Later on this conference, we will aggressively organize our next direct selling summit on January 2001.

Updated Web-site Content Regularly Through the above activities, National Sun Yat-Sen University has earned FTC and Direct Selling Industry’s respect, especially this year, we received Direct Selling Education Foundation (DSEF)’s recognition and grants for “Fifth Academic Symposium on Direct Selling” first time. In addition to our efforts in reaching every university and college professor and students’ understanding of our contribution to direct selling research, we also receive various emails inquiring about direct selling business domestically and from overseas. Direct Selling Research Center (DSRC) has then becoming the representative of business, government, and academy within direct selling industry. IV.
Self Evaluation Two years after DSRC’s establishment, with shortage of resources, we organized five global activities to win government, business and academy’s recognition - a step closer to the success. Through the construction of Web-site, we hope to provide the academic and practical information to interest parties, gradually establish DSRC’s professional position nation and worldwide, looking forward to obtain more resource. V.
Conclusion With the efforts made by our dean, DSRC is able to gather all domestic scholars and experts interested in direct selling research, and extend to build it s academic position in direct selling research. DSRC is able to provide information to government and direct selling business and undertake their research projects. We are looking forward to the strong support from direct selling business and to work harder to enhance our professional image and management quality; hoping to become the world-renown direct selling research institute. |
