Dear Families and
Friends,
Time flies faster and
faster each year. It is 2008 already! This year is the year of Mouse which means
that we will have many different resources. Let me share my important memories
of 2007 with you.
In January 2007,
the Research
Center
for Direct Selling (RCDS) at Peking
University
held “The Development and Management of Chinese Direct Selling Business”
International Forum. I was invited to present the Academic Researches on Direct
Selling in
Taiwan.
I met many Chinese scholars who were studying direct selling and we became good
friends. In February I retired from
National
Sun
Yat-sen
University
and became a faculty member of
Shu-Te University.
In March, I held an Academic Forum on Direct Selling in
Sun Yat-sen
University in
Guanzhou,
China.
More than 200 students attended the forum and as a result, more than 180
students enrolled in the direct selling class offered by a professor at the
University in the following semester.
In April, Dr. Zhan
at RCDS told me that after knowing I have retired from
National Sun
Yat-sen
University,
Prof. Wen Hai, Director of RCDS and Vice President of Peking University, would
like to invite me to do direct selling research at RCDS. After some
administrative arrangement, I became the Executive Director of RCDS at Peking
University
in September 2007.
On 22nd
April, I was invited to present papers at the Direct Selling Symposium organized
by Nanking
University
in China.
It was an exciting experience to visit the old capital of many Chinese
dynasties. In May, as a member of the University Evaluation Committee I
evaluated a few Departments of Management in different universities in Taiwan.
It was a valuable experience to study and evaluate departments of other
universities. I learned a lot and gave them some suggestions for improvement as
well.
June is the month for
graduation and thank you parties. This year I have students graduated from two
universities and that brought me more thank you parties. All the parties were
unforgettable. I also played golf for the NSYSU EMBA team in the national EMBA
golf tournament. We got the third place and I did help in winning this game.
In July, I got a research
project “The Establishment and Implementation of Self-evaluation in Direct
Selling Business” from Taiwan FTC. I took a lot of discussions with direct
selling companies in August and finished the project in November.
In September I took
the office of Executive Director of RCDS and commenced a trip to visit direct
selling scholars, direct selling companies which have got license, officials in
charge of direct selling. It would take more than 6 months to finish the visit.
I also got the agreement from Prof. Wen Hai to hold the 12th
Academic Symposium on Direct Selling one day at
Peking
University in
December and the other one in Taiwan
in January 2008.
In October, we
attended an academic symposium organized by an important academic journal in
China
and visited some direct selling medias in
Chongqing.
I continued the visit to direct selling companies in
Shanghai, Tienjing
in November and gave the final presentation to FTC in Taiwan.
We successfully held the 12th
Academic Symposium on Direct Selling in Beijing
in December and ended the fruitful year 2007.
